How many days before should i do threading ?

i have a farewell party coming up in a month and i'm planning to to shape my eyebrows for the first time. i heard there are possibilities of rashes and pain for a day or so. does it always happen?any precautions that i should take? how many days prior to the party do you think i should do it?(i cant afford to have rashes during the party)!
