Who was better actor: James Dean or Heath Ledger?

The questions strikes me as raising a moot point, since it is now impossible to say what else either of the two centers of death cult worship would have done. Dean and Ledger had different qualities and approaches to acting. Dean figured out ways to hold an audience's attention and Ledger was more of a chameleon. Neither one is remembered particularly for their acting so much as their roles as the promising young man who died before his time and both will now always be forever young.
