Should i ask him out anyway?

i like this guy but hes like deformed. every body at his work calls him "Nemo" cause nemo has 1 normal fin and 1 wierd one and this guy has 1 normal hand and 1 deformed hand...and ppl made fun of his x gf until she dumped him and i dnt wnt ppl making fun of me but i really lke him....should i ask him out and ignore what everybody says or just b friends with him
